California is full of surprises and there is so much to see and do there for couples. All the way from the north to the south, you can experiences extremes of temperature, weather, landscape, cuisine, and people. But in this article I want to talk about one place that you can visit - particularly if you are interested in celebrity watching - is Malibu (very close to both Hollywood and Los Angeles areas).

The city of Malibu is essentially a 27 miles stretch of paradise with beautiful beaches, beach front communities lined along the shore with sandy beaches within walking distance. Malibu is the original "Surf City USA." The Surfrider beach, located right next to the Malibu piers, marks the spot where surfing first came to the American continent shores. According to Wikipedia, it is still one of the best right breaks in the world on a good swell.

Chances are that you won't even have to try so hard. If you spend enough time hanging out in this beautiful city, you might see Hollywood stars like Matthew McConaughey, Robert Redford, Mel Gibson, Barbra Streisand, Richard Gere, Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks, Courtney Cox, Howie Mandell, Sting, Bill Murray, Dustin Hoffman, and others who like to party in the city's many restaurants and nightclubs. While many stars own properties there, others rent them.  And it was also the city where Teri Hatcher and Ryan Seacrest had that one and only kiss.

How to vacation in Malibu?

Remember, Malibu is a relatively small city but still attracts all kinds of tourists, including surfers (who are always looking for bargain hotels). So if you are in the Hollywood area or staying in Los Angeles metropolitan zone, you can even make day trips to Malibu - it is just about an hour by car. Another option to stay right in Malibu is do a vacation rental - there are excellent options for couples to stay right on the water.
