Fashionable at any age
Stay attractive for your partner

Tanya in Columbus, Ohio, writes, “I feel very unattractive; I have gained a lot of weight since the birth of my two children. Although my husband is also overweight, I am afraid he does not like me any more. He hardly touches me and pays no attention to me.  I do not see any other problem in our marriage but this attitude of my husband is causing me a lot of pain.  I am busy all day and also take care of the kids.  I have not time for being fashionable.  What can I do?"

It is normal to gain weight after having kids, or better said, not to lose enough weight after pregnancy. You should try to be at your right weight not only for your husband, but also for yourself, your health, and to be an example to your kids. Once you take the decision to lose weight this is easy to do and you will need to adapt to a new healthier life style. Contrary to what many people believe, a healthier lifestyle does not mean that you have to go hungry. Personally, my favorite diet, even if you do not follow it strictly, is the South Beach Diet. The reason I like it is because it is healthy. In the meantime, perhaps, you are a bit sensitive as well. After a few years, most marriages tend to cool down somewhat and both partners have to bring romance, passion and adventure back. Generally women are better at this than men. So you can try to have dates with your husband, do something different with the kids, and try to dedicate time to your relationship. A lot of mothers get so immersed in their kids that they forget the rest of their life.  (Related article:  Makeovers for women)

And last but not the least; you should be taking care of yourself and try to be fashionable.Photo of a middle aged woman dressed in a skyblue corset. We know it is difficult, but it is important. Check your lingerie. Is it fashionable and pretty? Does it look good on you? Is your nightwear sexy or are you using old tee shirts to sleep in  (please do not do this)? And how are you taking care of yourself? Are you nails pretty? Are your feet soft? What about your skin? When you are with your husband, are you always dressed in a track suit (or as my husband calls them “monkey suits”!)? You do not have to look ready for the red carpet, but you should feel pretty most of the time and have a wardrobe that is fashionable and modern. (Related:  How to whiten your teeth?)

You might be thinking “I do not have time”, but let me tell you, this might be more important than other chores. If you are not happy with yourself you may not have the energy to make others happy, including your husband.
