How to
have fun as a couple?
Engage your partner

|
When it
comes to
fun activities for couples,
both partners must enjoy doing it
together. That is why while the idea
of "opposites attract" is somewhat
true, it is important to understand
that a couple should be compatible.
Let me cite the case of a woman who
has a wonderful husband but is not
exciting when it comes to having a
good time.
Greta
writes,
"My husband doesn't like adventure
(hiking,
scuba diving, camping, etc.), doesn't like
reading. His favorite pastime is
sitting at home watching T.V. in the
company of me and our baby girl. It's
really boring and I do feel that he
feels bored too, but he is lazy to
think about something else to do. I
like going out, have some adventure,
meeting people, and it's hard for me
to keep nagging him to go out or do
something else besides watching T.V.
So what do you think I should
do?" |

It
seems that your husband is simply a
"homebody." He may even be a bit
shy and have some
social anxiety issues, but
it seems that it is just his
personality. I do not see anything
wrong with him as such since he seems
to be a
good
husband and a family man. Here is
what I suggest:
-
Be proactive and organize an activity.
Say for example, call a few friends
and organize a
dinner at a restaurant
that he might like too. After
everything is planned, then tell your
husband that "we" are going there and
other friends and family members will
be there. No need to discuss; just get
ready and go. Chances are that he will
simply follow.
-
Similarly, when he comes back home
from work, you should both be ready
and then tell him that you want to go
shopping to buy a toy for your
daughter (or have another similar
excuse). When you are both ready, he
can't say no.
-
There are things that he will simply
refuse to do. If that is the case, you
must go alone with your
friends. For
example, if he does not like to go
hiking or camping, then tell him to
watch the baby while you will be
hiking with your friends. Chances are
that over time he will get curious and
join you.
