It is time to settle down
That's right. When you have
reached this point, you might want to
find a life
partner and have a
steady relationship, even if you do not want to
get married formally or start a family. There is now
even scientific evidence that shows that people who
never marry face an even greater chance of dying early
than people who have been
divorced, separated or widowed. All of these groups
had shorter survival prospects than people who were
currently married. The effect held true across all age
groups, even younger ones, the researchers noted. "This
seems to happen all the way along," said lead researcher
Robert Kaplan, professor and chair of the department of
health services at the University of California, Los
Angeles. A connection between being married and a longer
life expectancy and, more specifically, between being
married and a lower incidence of
heart disease is well established. Marriage is
considered a rough proxy for "social connectedness,"
which experts believe can help people
live longer.
How to find a partner?
If you have reached this
point, chances are you will need to
make a lot of compromises. If you delayed your
search for a life partner this long, it is highly
likely that all the good people are already with someone
else. That does not mean that there is no hope.
Breakups and
divorces happen all the time to good people and that
is one set of people you should look at.
Other than that, keep your
mind open, be
ready to make sacrifices, and enjoy the ride - and a
long,
healthy life.
