Lose weight by cutting calories

A lot of people ask us about simple ways to lose weight AND keep it off. The bottom line is losing weight is very simple: just consume less calories, or in other words, switch to a diet. As everyone knows, people gain weight when they consume more calories than they burn and the excess calories are simply stored as fat by the body. Once you consume less calories, you not only stop accumulating more fat, the body actually starts using some of the stored fat.

A bigger challenge, however, is keeping the weight off. The way that happens is by a complete change in lifestyle. Steve Edwards, the fitness expert at Beachbody, the leading website for people who want to have a better body through a complete transformation of their lifestyle, says, "People who go on another diet (yo-yoing)."

Exercise is critical for permanent weight loss

We all hate to exercise, particularly if we have never exercised before. It seems like work. However, people who have made an effort and forced themselves to exercise eventually become addicted to exercising. So much so that if they don't exercise, they miss it. They miss all the fresh air they breath when their lungs are pumping harder, they miss the salty smell of their own sweat, they miss the oxygen in their blood that makes them feel energized. So what is hard is the first few days of exercising. During this period, think of exercise as a new sport that you are learning and do not think of it as a burden, a chore. Once you visualize all the good things that are going to happen to you when you are physically fit (more success with men/women, better health, good fitting clothes, able to low-calorie foods, but they don't it is OK to be fat and here are all the good clothes that they have designed for you that will make you "look" less fat. And if you want to lose weight, there is a huge diet and weight loss industry ready to make a fast buck. Unless you start to care for your own body, nobody else will.

So act on what you really want to do. Do some research. Check out all the excellent diets (Sonoma diet, French diet, Automatic diet, and Oprah's boot camp diet), exercise equipment, and weight loss programs available for weight loss. Pick the one that is right for your specific situation (how much weight you want lose, how much time you have, do you like diet, do you like exercise, do you prefer both, etc.).
