Travis Stork and Sarah Stone call it quits

The fact that so many Hollywood relationships end up in divorces and breakups make me wonder if too much attention can actually be bad for a relationship. After all the hoopla, Dr. Travis Stork and Sarah Stone supposedly found the love of their life on reality television program "The Bachelor: Paris." But just days after the final episode was aired, the couple have announced that their relationship is over. Ouch!Photo of Travis Stork and Sarah Stone after formally becoming a couple on ABC reality television program The Bachelor shot in Paris.

What went wrong?

When I watched the program, it reminded me of the cases of arranged marriages these days. I hear that many immigrants place matrimonial ads in their native countries (particularly in South Asia), they develop a short list, arrive in the country, interview everyone, date once or twice, and in most cases, get married and return to the US. Breaks all records of speed dating! But from the stories that we receive on LuvCube, they seem to work. The divorce rates are nowhere close to that for mainstream America.

So why did the relationship of Stork and Stone end so soon after such a romantic beginning?

While Stork and Stone are saying that they could not even contact each other for about three months after their return from Paris (due to restrictions imposed by ABC - the producer of the program), and therefore, lost interest in each other, the reality is that as a culture, we Americans cannot force ourselves to love someone. A program like The Bachelor forces one to pick from a small pool of people and then expects the couple to fall in love instantly. While it may work for some cultures, it does not work for us.

What does it mean?

  1. Whether you have been single for a month or years, do not rush into marriage/commitment.
  2. Take your time, even if someone tells you that time is running out (Oh my God, you are still single at 30!).
  3. If you have any doubts about a relationship at any point, act quickly to resolve them. If it does not work, then end the relationship quickly, as Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney did. There is no fun in dragging it.
