The beauty of a feature film is that it is educational in many ways: it can tell you about things and people that you did not know so well. That is why salsa fans know everything about Hector Lavoe but the rest of us may not. I am not convinced that Jennifer Lopez is a good actress (she has many more failed films than successes) and I do agree that she is a great singer, dancer, fashionista, and businesswoman (she has launched both clothing and perfumes for women). So did she get the role of Puchi Lavoe in the movie "El Cantante" because she is J LO and her husband Marc Anthony was playing Hector Lavoe? Probably.
